Beat Film Festival in Moscow Celebrates New Beat Culture with 26 Documentary Films

Beat Film Festival, a documentary film festival about the new Beat culture, has kicked off in Moscow and will run until June 16, as announced by the festival's press service.

The international program features 26 films, including ones about musicians Nick Cave, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Pete Doherty, as well as about The Rolling Stones muse Anita Pallenberg and French director Agnes Varda.

The festival will take place at various venues across the city and online on Kinopoisk.

Traditionally, the international program includes films about music, such as 'Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda' and 'Nick Cave and The Birthday Party.'

The lineup also includes a film about a photographer, a movie about the first major women's football championship, a film about students at a Swiss business school, and two ballet films: 'Swan Song' and 'The Steadfast Tin Soldier.'

'Best of Beat' program features audience favorites from previous years, including films about Finnish architect Alvar Aalto ('Aalto'), video art pioneer Nam June Paik ('Nam June Paik: Lunar - First TV'), and electronic revolution pioneer Laurent Garnier ('Laurent Garnier: Electroschock'), among others.

This year, Beat supports the charity fund 'House with a Lighthouse.'

'25% of the ticket sales revenue for screenings at the GES-2 Cultural Center will go to the children's hospice,' added the press service.

The 'Doc Industry' program of documentary films by Russian authors includes over 10 short and feature films of various genres.

Screenings of the 'Doc Industry' will take place at the GES-2 Cultural Center cinema from June 10 to 16 and will be free for the audience.

Some films from the program will also be available on Kinopoisk.

The film screenings program will be complemented by public talks, discussions, and film presentations.

According to the organizers, the educational program will feature over 25 events with participation of film critics, journalists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and scientists.
